Generation credits

What's included, and what costs a generation.

Every account starts with a free allowance for illustration work. Here's exactly what draws from it, and how to get more.

Generations” pay for illustration work after your first preview — regenerating a page, re-rendering text baked into an image, or designing a new character look. They're a separate pool from your free monthly previews.

  1. Start with 5 included generations

Every account starts with 5 free generations. This is a one-time allowance for the whole account — it doesn't renew monthly and isn't tied to any one book.

  2. Spend them on edits

Regenerating a page, re-rendering an in-page-text illustration after a text edit, and creating a new illustrated character look (1 generation) all draw from this pool.

  3. Buy a pack when you run out

A generation pack adds 10 more generations to your account. Purchased generations never expire and work on any book you're still editing.

  4. Failed attempts are refunded automatically

If a regeneration fails to complete, the generation it used is returned to your account automatically — you're not charged for illustrations that don't come out.

Generation credits vs. preview credits

Generation credits
Cover illustration work after generation: page regenerations, in-page text re-renders, and new character looks. Start at 5 per account, topped up in packs of 10.
Free previews (monthly)
2 free previews every calendar month, each including a cover illustration and the full story text for one project. Resets at the start of the next month.
Preview credits (loyalty reward)
A batch of 5 reusable preview credits, granted automatically every 10th book you buy. They don't expire monthly and work on any project.
Paid previews
A small one-off fee to unlock a preview for one specific project when you're out of free previews and preview credits.

Designing a new character look also draws from your generation pool.

Note: Generations are account-wide, not per book

There's a single free allowance and a single purchased-credit balance for your whole account, spent across whichever book you're editing.

Warning: Don't confuse this with preview credits

Preview credits only unlock a project's first free preview. They can't be used to regenerate a page or edit text — that's what generation credits are for.

What to expect: A pack is a one-time top-up, not a subscription

Buying a pack is a single purchase of 10 more generations — there's no recurring charge or plan.

Common questions

How many free generations do I get?
5, included with every account. This is a one-time allowance for the whole account — it does not renew every month.
What uses a generation?
Regenerating a page's illustration, re-rendering an in-page-text page after a text edit, editing cover or back-cover text, and designing a new illustrated character look (1 generation) all spend from your generation pool.
